Do I Sympathize with the Joker?
No, I do not. The Joker has killed countless people mercilessly. Whether the people deserved to be killed is another question. Murder is murder, and the Joker has done too much of it. Some might argue that he does so because of his messed-up childhood. But, there must have been others out there with a much more painful childhood, and could still grow up to become anything other than a ruthless killer. From the movie itself, there were many characteristics of the Joker which allows many people to believe that the Joker is not a character to sympathize, but a character to despise.
What have I learnt from the lesson?
I have learnt many things from the movie. One of which is that we cannot judge a character immediately without further analyzing it. For example, the Batman, has evolved in our heads, from a pure, honest super hero to a hero who has darker motives and different, unknown intentions. The Joker on the other hand, to me, has remained the same as the evil villain who has dark, cunning plots. In a way, the Batman and the Joker has some similarities, after much observing and analyzing it. Both of them are so much alike, yet they are both so much different.

Exactly, Batman and The Joker. As if they are two sides of the same coin.
We can take them to be the two sides of our human nature as well. We can choose to use our potential for good, or for crime. We make the choices.
